Agility training helps improve communication between you and your dog, strengthens the bond between you, and makes your dog a better-behaved member of your family. Dogs LOVE agility and you will, too. Being outdoors with your dog refreshes the body and soul.
Yes, older dogs can still learn new things. It may take more time and patience, but we can work with dogs of any age to promote safe activity and increased focus.
Dogs can begin groundwork training as young as 12 weeks old. There are a lot of basic obedience commands used in agility (e.g., stay, come, sit) and equipment socialization (e.g., learning to walk on obstacle surfaces, going through tunnels, stepping over low bars, going around jump stanchions). And there is a lot to learn for first-time handlers! Dogs cannot compete until they are 15 months old, for safety reasons. We need to wait until all their joints have finished forming and closing.
